Windy Boats were originally founded in Norway back in 1966 and have spent over fifty years building some of the highest quality and most capable performance yachts on the market. Windy are not a mass production manufacturer, but a ‘yacht builder’ and this distinctive ethos is prevalent throughout the business and all involved with the Scandinavian brand.
Today Windy Scandinavia offer a highly respected range of sports boats and performance yachts from 27’ – 62’ which include an SR range of super yacht tenders and chase boats.
The Windy special projects division, was founded in 2010 with the launch of the Windy SR52 Blackbird which was developed for the 66m Dubois sloop – AGLAIA. Her design was developed in collaboration with Dubois Naval Architects and legendary Norwegian Naval Architect Hans Jørgen Johnsen, who has been responsible for the majority of the legendary Windy range.
The result was one of the most capable and versatile chase boats on the market, boasting top speeds in excess of 42kts and a cruising range of approximately 480nm. She is an exceptional “drivers yacht” with a super ergonomic helm station and custom pilot and co-pilot chairs.
The SR52 layout incorporates a double crew cabin with separate shower, walk around deck layout, social central cockpit, and well-appointed wet bar. There is an aft sun pad with the option of forward and aft bimini sun shades with carbon poles.
Windy offer the option to supply the SR52 with a range of configurations and cockpit layouts, which can be tailored to the yacht’s intended application and the client’s personal requirements.
The yacht has been successfully supplied to many different applications, including use as super yacht chase boat, tender and can be successfully towed or even lifted by davits. She has proved popular as a luxurious and sporty day boat, offering unrivalled handling and style.
The Windy SR52 Blackbird (hull #27) has recently completed her production and is ready for prompt delivery with full new boat warranties. This stunning example has been tastefully finished in black lacquer, which complements her timeless and sleek design. Her full teak decks are specified with modern grey caulking, sporty windscreen configuration and bow rider seat forwards.
She is powered with the 2 x Volvo IPS 800 engines and Humphree interceptors, which automatically control the yacht’s trim, list and heel angle in the corners. The optional DPS system can be specified, automatically holding the yacht’s position and heading.
Additional equipment includes a 7Kw Generator, air conditioning system and extra-large cold storage lockers in the starboard side decks. There is a towing eye and up-graded sound system.
The cabin sofa cushions and cockpit upholstery are still to be specified.
