The weather in Mallorca has finally improved after a rather unusual start to the season with lots of wind and rain. Our guardiennage fleet is now all gleaming and owners are turning up delighted with the new lease of life our winter projects and refits have given their yachts. We were busy with the Palma Superyacht show with lots going on in sales and our off season projects are now coming to a close.

Sailing Yacht BLISS II looking fabulous and about to head to the Palma Boat Show.
BLISS II has had her decks and transom resprayed, some teak repairs made, hydraulics issues resolved, a new set of sails installed, some stainless-steel works done on the stern and most of the locker seals have been replaced. We are also working with the owner to upgrade the electronics so that she is easily handled singlehanded with everything push button from the helm station. A beautiful yacht with an owner who is fastidious about the details and it really shows!
LA LUNA – Dixon 73
LA LUNA arrived with us late last year and she was in desperate need of some Berthon TLC. I was delighted with how she exhibited at the Palma Superyacht Show, gleaming from top to toe. LA LUNA has had a complete service of all the hydraulics, replacement of several grey water pumps, review and upgrade of a lot of the electronics, all the Ocean Air blinds have been replaced with new, major service on the generator, a large amount of upgrades and improvements to the electrical system and of course a complete wax and polish. This yacht not only offers wonderful accommodation but she is also a weapon to sail!

AGLAIA – Humphreys 77
Of course, we are not now resting on our laurels as the projects continue to mount up. We have just hauled AGLAIA out of the water for antifoul, polish, PropSeed, seacock replacement/service and shaft pull for seal replacements and bearing replacements. Following a large amount of interest after the boat show, we want to make sure that she is 100% ready to go for either a new owner or her current owner’s sailing programme this season. I had one of my first sails aboard AGLAIA recently and was amazed at how easy she is to handle and how much performance she offers even in light airs!

At the same time as AGLAIA is having her spring fit out, the team are busy working on a complete hatch replacement on a CNB 76, we have also just hauled out the Oyster 655 BLUE HORIZON for her annual yard time where she will be antifouled, polished, bow thruster leg replaced and anodes replaced.
In addition the Gunfleet 58 AMITIE has had her new rudder installed with new bearings, and is now back in the water where the guardiennage team will then make sure she is spick and span and sails back on ready for the owner to start enjoying some summer sailing!
In other news, we are delighted that Mason Jones has just joined the Berthon Spain team. Mason has been with Oyster Palma for many years and is regarding as one of Mallorca’s best and most talented yacht engineers. He brings with him not only a wealth of experience but also a large book of his loyal clients including many of the TP 52 fleet.
Of course it’s been an incredibly busy time of year for me as head of the business and as always I’m supported not only by a fantastic team at work but also my ever patient family who have been helping out on weekends moving yachts around. Below was last weekend delivering Oyster 655 BLUE HORIZON back from Audax to Palma for her to be hauled out.
We hope all of our clients have a wonderful summer sailing and we are here should you need us. Please get in touch soon for winter refits as we are quickly getting booked up!
